Prerequisites

  • A Google account with access to at least one Google Ads advertiser account
  • If your accounts are managed under a manager account (MCC), that’s supported — you’ll select the specific advertiser account to work with during setup
  • Your Google Ads user role determines what the integration can do; if your role is read-only, then only these actions will work inside Airtop

Connecting your Google Ads account

  1. Connect via Google sign-in. You’ll be asked to grant the Google Ads permission (https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords) — this is the only scope requested. Google describes it as “See, edit, create, and delete your Google Ads accounts and data.”
  2. Select the advertiser account you want the agent to manage. All tools operate only on this selected account. You can change the account at any time via Integration settings.

What the agent can do

Reading and reporting (no approval needed — read-only)

  • Account overview — view the connected account’s setup state and recent account-level performance
  • Campaign reports — list campaigns and inspect their structure (ad groups, keywords, ads), status, and budgets
  • Audits — review conversion goals, geo targeting, device performance, bidding and budgets, keyword hygiene, brand assets, and Quality Score
  • Search Terms report — see which queries trigger your ads; raw search terms are masked by default to protect end-user privacy
  • Wasted spend estimate — estimate budget leakage across common waste categories

Keyword research and planning (read-only)

  • Keyword ideas — generate Google Keyword Planner suggestions for your account
  • Historical metrics — get search volume, competition, and bid ranges for keywords you supply
  • Budget estimation — estimate a minimum viable budget from your goals and CPC data

Drafting (nothing is written to your account)

  • Draft campaign builds with structured ad groups, keyword grouping, and starter negative keywords
  • Draft responsive search ad copy, including Dynamic Keyword Insertion
  • Generate negative keyword proposals, landing page URL recommendations, and prioritized remediation plans from audit findings

Changes (each one requires your approval before it’s applied)

  • Create campaigns and ad groups — create paused Search campaigns and ad groups, complete with keywords and responsive search ads
  • Budgets and bidding — adjust campaign budget amounts and bidding strategies
  • Targeting — set presence-only location targeting, add location targets and exclusions, opt out of mobile traffic, adjust tablet bids, and control search partner network settings
  • Keywords — add keywords, pause or enable them, and change bids or match types
  • Negative keywords — add campaign, ad group, or shared negative keyword lists
  • Ads — replace responsive search ad headlines and descriptions (note: editing an ad resets its performance history)
  • Assets — link or unlink sitelinks
  • Conversion goals — change biddability and primary-goal settings
  • Status and renames — enable or pause campaigns, ad groups, and ads; rename campaigns and ad groups. Enabling a campaign starts spend.
  • URL tracking — set an account-level final URL suffix (e.g., UTM parameters)

How approvals work

When the agent wants to make a change, it submits a change request and you’re prompted to approve or reject it. Nothing is written to your Google Ads account until you approve. The agent reports a change as applied only after the platform confirms it succeeded.

Limitations

  • API rate limits apply
  • Operates only on the advertiser account selected during setup
  • Does not automate Google Tag Manager, GA4, CRM sync, Customer Match uploads, landing page creation or CMS edits, or cross-platform attribution
  • Keyword Planner, reports, and changes may be limited by your Google Ads account permissions, eligibility, access tier, or Google Policy
